Rockstar has released four official GTA 6 videos. They are Trailer 1 (December 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), the 26-minute Extended Look (August 2026) and the Launch Trailer (15 October 2026). Below, we go through each one in order, in our own words, with timestamps so you can follow along. There are no clips or official images here, so use the links to watch on Rockstar's own channels.

How we timed these: the Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and Launch Trailer times come from published frame-by-frame scene lists of Rockstar's own uploads (6insider's frame index, plus mypandaplay's subtitled launch trailer breakdown), so treat them as accurate to a second or so. We only describe what's on screen. Where we quote a line, it's from the on-screen subtitles. The Extended Look has no reliable frame index, so we list its highlights without times.

Trailer 1 (4 December 2023)

What it did: it announced the game, revealed the return of Vice City, named the state of Leonida and introduced Lucia. Rockstar put it out a day early after a low-quality copy leaked online. It ended on a 2025 release window, which later slipped twice to 19 November 2026.

Time What happens
0:05–0:09 Prison razor wire, Lucia in a transport vehicle, then Lucia in an orange jumpsuit sitting across from an officer.
0:14 "Rockstar Games presents" over a beach.
0:18–0:24 Waterfront towers, an airboat in the wetlands (0:20), a crowded beach and a speedboat past port cranes.
0:26–0:40 Vice City at full tilt: a rooftop party, a shopfront street lined with classic cars, a club, the city from the air at night, a Cheetah on Ocean Drive, a stage act, the causeway out to the Keys, a rooftop pool and the VICE letters (0:40).
0:41–0:56 A run of clips styled like social media posts: a boat party, a pool party, a store robbery caught on CCTV (0:48–0:49), pick-up trucks and the Thrillbilly Mud Club (0:56). It's Rockstar sending up "only in Florida" viral videos.
1:01–1:08 A billboard, a woman in a bandana in a passenger seat (1:03), a news helicopter shot, a mugshot, dirt bikes, a WEAZEL news headline and a lowrider.
1:09–1:14 Two people masking up inside a store (1:09), a red muscle car passing a Port Gellhorn pawn shop (1:11) and a final bedroom scene (1:14).
1:15–1:31 The GTA VI logo and the original 2025 date.

Why it matters: it was the first time a modern GTA had a female lead, and Rockstar's later bio confirms Lucia's prison backstory: "fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary."

Trailer 2 (6 May 2025)

What it did: it gave Jason a proper introduction and showed Lucia leaving prison. Rockstar said it was captured on PS5. It came days after the delay to 26 May 2026, and Rockstar published character and region bios on its website the same day.

Time What happens
0:08–0:16 The Leonida Keys: Brian's stilt house, Jason working on the roof, then Brian by a pick-up truck.
0:28–0:47 Jason on the road: driving, a pizza counter, causeway signs, a beach gym, a shopfront and police lights.
0:50–0:56 A prison watchtower, then the prison office.
1:01–1:04 Walking out through the gate as Lucia is released.
1:11 "Rockstar Games presents."
1:16–1:31 A montage of their new life: an armed robbery, Jason and Lucia at a bar, the docks, a pier at sunset, a kitchen and a busy happy-hour bar.
1:34–1:58 Vice City nights: a club, a rooftop bar, driving, a street fight (1:54) and a car alight with police around it (1:58).
1:59–2:08 A crowd scattering, Ocean Drive outside the Dominion Hotel (2:06) and a street performer.
2:11–2:16 Surveillance monitors, then a living room.
2:18–2:25 A helicopter over the wetlands, an airboat, a jet ski, a chopper alongside a floatplane and a motel room (2:25).
2:26–2:47 The finale and the logo, with the then-current date.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look (27 August 2026)

What it was: a 26-minute gameplay showcase that premiered on Netflix, then went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel at 2am UK time on 28 August. Rockstar says it was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5." It's less a trailer and more a long run of missions, open-world activities and menus. It's also the best look so far at how the game actually plays.

Here are the key moments, in roughly the order they appear. We haven't timed them because there's no reliable frame index for the full 26 minutes; the details come from IGN's and TechRadar's breakdowns.

  • Jason and Lucia walk into an apartment block to collect a package for Boobie. Gameplay flows straight into cutscenes and back with no obvious join.
  • Jason crouches to pet a dog, which has its own interaction prompt.
  • Indoor gunfights with cover, and shotguns tearing chunks out of walls.
  • Breaking into a car gives you a choice: slow and quiet, or smash the window.
  • Lucia in a brawl, with blocks and grabs.
  • A clear view of Starfish Island, the island of mansions from 2002's GTA: Vice City.
  • A big police chase. You can shoot out tyres, a helicopter joins at a higher wanted level, and the pair swap who's driving. Icons under the wanted stars show what the police know about you (face, clothes, car), and switching vehicles changes that.
  • A montage of activities: jet skis, kayaks, airboats, scuba diving, the gym, track racing and more.
  • A jewellery store robbery, then six wanted stars, one more than GTA 5's five.
  • In-game social media and live-streaming, a shooting range, motocross and skydiving.
  • Night street racing with nitro, then a packed nightclub.
  • While Jason is inside a mansion, Lucia texts him what she can see.
  • Focus: time slows and enemy weak spots are highlighted, much like Red Dead's Dead Eye. Then a fishing trip to close.

Who appears: besides Jason and Lucia, the Extended Look features Boobie Ike (the pair are collecting for him), Brian Heder and his wife Lori at a rooftop bar, and the bank robber Raul Bautista, according to IGN's breakdown.

Confirmed since: Rockstar North's Rob Nelson has named the slow-motion aiming system Focus in interviews. Rockstar hasn't published a full feature list, so treat anything beyond what's on screen as not yet confirmed.

The music: the Extended Look plays a run of licensed tracks that are in the game, including Depeche Mode's People Are People, Def Leppard's Love Bites and, in a lift, Phil Collins' Against All Odds (IGN logged the full list).

Worth knowing: the Extended Look is age-restricted on YouTube, so you may need to sign in to watch it there. You can also watch it on Rockstar's own site.

The Launch Trailer (15 October 2026)

What it did: it arrived without warning, about 90 seconds long, five weeks before launch. It brought real news too: Rockstar confirmed that French electronic duo Justice composed the game's original score. The trailer debuts their single Flower in a Hurricane (featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard), which is also on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the 34-track official soundtrack. Rockstar says it was captured on PS5 but didn't say whether that was a base PS5 or a PS5 Pro.

Time What happens
0:00–0:02 PlayStation cards ("Plays best on PS5").
0:03–0:14 The Leonida Keys: a truck towing a jet ski past a "Welcome to The Keys" sign, a boatyard under a "Brian's Marina" sign (0:05), a boat being polished and a phone call. The subtitles run: "I got in some trouble in the Army." / "Didn't leave on the best of terms." / "They don't give loans…", then a recorded voice: "This is a free call from Lucia Caminos."
0:16–0:23 "Rockstar Games presents" over Vice City at night, an iguana (0:21) and the GTA VI logo (0:23).
0:26–0:40 Jason and Lucia in a red convertible, the swamp, armed men, a vault with banknotes flying (0:35) and Jason in a U.S. Army T-shirt (0:40).
0:49–0:59 A dirt bike, a close-up of an ankle tag with a red light (0:51; the trailer doesn't show whose), a rooftop explosion, a wing-walker on a biplane (0:55), a gym, a snake and two people in pink and purple balaclavas holding rifles (0:59).
1:02–1:06 The subtitles: "Are we gonna be okay?" / "We've stuck together through everything." / "Just gotta get through it."
1:08–1:14 A helicopter smashing through glass, a scoped rifle, a street shootout and a pool.
1:22–1:30 The end card, "November 19, 2026 · Pre-order now", with a "Captured on PS5" note, then the PlayStation logo.
