GTA 6 is set in Vice City and across the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida. So far Rockstar has officially shown six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The map is roughly twice the size of GTA 5's, and Rockstar says its total landmass is nearly as large as the playable maps of GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined (Edge magazine, 29 October 2026). Rockstar hasn't released a full official map yet.

Interactive map: coming at launch. We'll build the Six Star Intel interactive map from our own playthrough once GTA 6 is out on 19 November 2026. It'll cover locations, collectibles and safehouses, with nothing taken from leaks. Bookmark the map hub for it.

GTA 6 regions at a glance

Region Rockstar's tagline In a nutshell
Vice City "Everything in Excess" The big city: art deco beachfront, nightlife, money and hustle
Leonida Keys "Gateway to Paradise" Laid-back tropical island chain with dangerous waters
Grassrivers "Welcome to the Wetlands" Wild wetlands with alligators, mangroves and worse
Port Gellhorn "Live Hard" A run-down former holiday town on the forgotten coast
Ambrosia "Keeping Leonida Sweet" An inland industrial town run on sugar and bikers
Mount Kalaga National Park "Wild, Wild Country" Northern backwoods for hunting, fishing and off-roading

Vice City

Rockstar's line is that Vice City is still "the sun and fun capital of America," even though we're a long way from the '80s. It's pitched as the glamour, hustle and greed of America squeezed into one city, and Rockstar names several neighbourhoods and landmarks:

  • Ocean Beach: pastel art deco hotels and white sand
  • Little Cuba: busy panaderías (bakeries)
  • Tisha-Wocka flea market: known for bootleg brands
  • VC Port: billed as "the cruise ship capital of the world"

The official synopsis calls the city "the darkest side of the sunniest place in America." Rockstar's Ultimate Edition description also mentions Southside Vice City, home to one of the city's loudest gangs.

Leonida Keys

A tropical archipelago where, in Rockstar's words, "the dress code is casual, the bars are loaded." Life here isn't flashy, but it's easy. Rockstar also warns that the Keys sit on the doorstep of "some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America." Another Edge screenshot shows a hammerhead shark underwater, so there's sea life to see below the surface too. This is Jason's patch: his official bio says he ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners, and Brian Heder runs his boatyard here.

Grassrivers

Leonida's wetlands, which Rockstar calls "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown." The alligators are the famous attraction, but Rockstar hints at "far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves." Expect airboats. The trailers show plenty of them, and one of the new screenshots in Edge magazine's October 2026 feature shows an airboat out in the swamp.

Port Gellhorn

Rockstar calls this "Leonida's forgotten coast": cheap motels, closed-down attractions and empty strip malls in a town that used to be a popular holiday spot. The tourists aren't coming back, but there's a new local economy "fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks." Rockstar's advice is to grab a dirt bike and keep hold of your wallet.

Ambrosia

In the heart of Leonida, Ambrosia is where Rockstar says "American industry and old school values still reign supreme — whatever the cost." The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, and the local biker gang provides "almost everything else."

Mount Kalaga National Park

A national landmark on Leonida's northern border, offering "room to breathe" with hunting, fishing and off-road trails. Rockstar says the backwoods around it are home to "hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals" living well away from the government.

Other places Rockstar has named

  • Leonida Penitentiary: where Lucia was locked up, according to her official bio
  • Allied Crystal sugar refinery: Ambrosia's big employer
  • Southside Vice City: home to a gang compound you can raid, according to the Ultimate Edition description
  • Starfish Island: the island of mansions from 2002's GTA: Vice City is back. You get a clear look at it about 12 minutes into the Extended Look (IGN)
  • Paradise Garage, Watson Bay: a garage with a weapon locker and a stash for stolen goods, also from the Ultimate Edition description. Rockstar doesn't say which region Watson Bay is in

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Size compared with Red Dead Redemption 2 About 3x (earlier report, Aug 2026)
Vice City compared with GTA 5's Los Santos About 2x (earlier report, Aug 2026)

The strongest source is Edge magazine's Rockstar North feature, free on GamesRadar+ from 29 October 2026. Edge reports the map is roughly twice the size of GTA 5's, and Rockstar told the magazine that the total landmass, including Vice City and the surrounding areas, is nearly as large as the playable maps of GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined. This settles the doubts some sites raised in late October about the "twice GTA 5" figure.

Earlier, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson gave the 2x GTA 5 and 3x RDR2 comparisons to YouTuber TGG, who summarised them on camera, and Eurogamer reported them on 27 August 2026. The RDR2 and Los Santos comparisons come from that earlier report only.

Rockstar also told Edge that the roads are narrower than GTA 5's, to feel "a more believable size", and that the day and night cycle is substantially longer.

A note on fan maps: detailed GTA 6 maps you'll find online are fan-made. Some are pieced together from trailer frames and some from leaked material. They can be impressive, but they're not official. We'll only map what we've seen in the released game.
